This rocking chair had such amazing barely twist carvings that it would have been a shame to see it lost to the dump. It only needed a new seat and would be great for any home, man-cave, or cottage. I was taught some upholstery basics at college, but it is not something in which I specialize.
The old seat was made of springs, horse hair, and straw. There were about 300 tacks holding it all together.
It took a while to remove all the old upholstery, but the wood looked nice the way it was.
I replaced the springs and horse hair with modern foam and a blue tartan fabric.
This wonderful barely twist rocker is saved for many years to come.
